Viral
Safety
Viral safety of biologics such as human plasma proteins and
recombinant therapeutics as well as vaccines for AIDS and
other infectious diseases can be effected by utilizing a unique
and broadly effective SuperFluids™
CFI virus inactivation technology [U.S. and International
Patents].
SuperFluids™ are used
to first permeate and inflate virions. The overfilled virions
are then decompressed and, as a result of rapid phase conversion,
rupture at their weakest points. CFI (critical fluid inactivation)
of enveloped viruses such as MuLV, VSV, TGE, BDVD, Sindbis
and HIV, and non-enveloped viruses such as Hepatitis A, Polio,
Adeno, Reo, EMC and Parvovirus B19 has been demonstrated.
The technique is purely physical and does not rely on heat,
chemicals or irradiation, resulting in high retention of biological
integrity and activity.
Aphios
will license SuperFluids™ CFI for the viral safety of
therapeutic proteins and pathogen inactivation, provide technical
support as well as research and manufacturing units. We
will also develop commercial viral safety and pathogen inactivation
relationships with strategic corporate partners.
Aphios
will further develop and license SuperFluids™ CFI for
developing vaccines for AIDS and other infectious diseases
[U.S. Patent].
